kgomoID ("we", "us", or "our") operates a high-security, AI-driven livestock identity platform designed to modernize traceability and prevent cattle theft in Southern Africa. We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users in strict compliance with the Botswana Data Protection Act (DP Act).

2. Information We Collect

We collect and process only the data necessary to provide secure livestock identity and verification services.

3. AI & Biometric Processing

kgomoID utilizes Advanced Vision AI (Gemini) to perform biometric matching of cattle muzzle ridge patterns. This processing is strictly limited to identifying individual animals for verification and theft prevention. Biometric data is stored in an encrypted format as "muzzle embeddings" and is never used for secondary purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under the following legal foundations provided by the DP Act:

• Consent: Explicit acceptance of this policy during registration.
• Public Interest: Supporting national livestock security and theft prevention.
• Legal Obligation: Complying with Botswana livestock and law enforcement regulations.

5. Data Sharing

Your data is shared only with authorized entities to fulfill the platform's security mission:

• Law Enforcement: Verification logs are accessible to the Botswana Police Service and Station Commanders.
• Organizations: Data shared within your registered Farm or Police Station is limited by Row Level Security (RLS).
• Service Providers: We use Supabase (Cloud Infrastructure) and Google Gemini (AI Processing). Data is processed securely and is not sold to third parties.

6. Data Storage & Retention

Data is stored securely in regional cloud infrastructure (Supabase) and locally on your device (IndexedDB) for offline field capability. We retain data for as long as your account is active or as required by Botswana livestock statutes. Currently, automatic data deletion policies are not implemented, but users may request manual account deletion.

7. Your Rights (Botswana DP Act)

Under the DP Act, you have the following rights:

• Right of Access: Request a copy of your stored personal data.
• Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data under specific conditions.
• Right to Object: Object to specific types of data processing.

8. Security Measures

We implement enterprise-grade security, including: - Row Level Security (RLS) to isolate organization data. - 256-bit AES Encryption for data at rest and TLS for data in transit. - Comprehensive system audit logging for every high-value action.
